Fighting the elements and world-weariness without ever taking a shortcut, the jazz contemplations of ‘Autumn Nights’ dress Jehst and Confucius MC in twinkling ivories, plunging double bass and flute from L.A.-based Austrian multi-instrumentalist Seb Zillner. Produced by French beat maker Keor Meteor – the conductor behind Confucius MC's 'The Highest Order' album – and rebooting the partnership behind Pitch 92's ‘Lost In Space’, ‘Autumn Nights’ carries a certain red-eyed glamour (“while the jazz play low and smoke dance on the breeze, I make peace with the farmer that harvest the seeds”), and a feel for fireside hip-hop with a head full of ideas.

Long “at the forefront of UK hip-hop” (The Guardian) and regarded as “the best British rapper of all time” (NME) and “the UK’s most natural rhymer who simply doesn’t waste words” (Clash), Jehst’s career has spanned the pre-millennium ‘Premonitions’, his enduring YNR imprint that has housed the homegrown sovereignty Kashmere, Cappo, Micall Parknsun and Verb T, and his last album, 2017’s ‘Billy Green is Dead’, described as a "a qualified triumph" by The Wire magazine.

South London’s Confucius MC – cited by Kae Tempest as "a huge influence on my life, my character and my rhyme-style" - has been carving his own echelon in the UK hip-hop landscape alongside working at a London primary school teaching the art of writing and lyricism, on top of running creative workshops for young people in his community. Confucius earned rave reviews as one half of Old Paradice with producer Morriarchi for this year’s ‘The Last Resort’ EP.

Love the hip-hop sound of the album and I really like these new artists that appear on the album that I had not heard before. I dont always get exposed to artists that are on the other side of the pond.
